Assistant Regional Transport officer kishtwar in deep slumber, Public Transport Operators violating traffic norms on regular basis.
In a press statment, President Public Awareness Front Shakir Siddiqui said
that Mini Bus operators, Magic, Cruiser drivers are violating traffic norms and playing with precious human lives while authorities are in deep slumber. “Though Govt has initiated many regulations under vehicle acts but public transport drivers are found violating norms including rash driving, overloading, driving without uniforms etc but all courtesy some traffic cops who has accorded impunity after getting a token money the entry fee,” alleged Siddiqui.
Some regular commuters on the routes like Padder, Nagseni, Chatroo, Thakrie, Palmar, Dacchan, Sarthal etc, Drivers of mini buses drive the vehicles without uniforms and always are seen indulged in violating traffic norms be it rash driving or using music system or using mobiles while driving. “Almost mini buses, magics, crusors on local and other routes could be seen overloaded while school and college going girls suffer a lot during the journey due to the overloading but who cares?”
“The student not only fell victim to overcharging as Mini bus operators don’t allow student’s concession on Sundays and during late hours and also misbehaves with students over the issue,
“In absence of due checking the drivers and helpers don’t wear mandatory uniform and name plates and in case of any complaint the complainant don’t know against whom he /she is going to complaint,” said siddiqui.
He further added that ARTO kishtwar should streamline the system in collaboration with traffic police and District administration otherwise PAF will launch mass level agitation in order to save the precious lives in Kishtwar.
