Asif Iqbal Sate Research Coordinator of Pradesh youth congress J&K, expresses serious concern over repeated tragic road accidents in the Chenab Valley. He said Current, heart-rending accidents in Chenab Valley have become a matter of deep and abiding concern for all of us, on routine base we have to part with precious and quality human resource in these tragic road accidents.

Asif, claimed that in a National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) survey state has topped the list of “high accidental death-prone areas” that too mostly in chenab region.The number of road accidents in Jammu and Kashmir which claim around one thousand lives per year is double than the national average based on population of the state, “data also show that more than half of those killed in road accidents were in the productive age group of 15 to 34, pointing to a calamitous loss of young lives, which is matter of concern” Asif, added.
He said, the Chenab valley in Jammu region, with tough terrain had witnessed a steep increase in the accidents over the past few years. less road length, faulty roads, negligent driving, worn out vehicles & ill equipped traffic police are among the reasons seen for growing accidents in J&K.He said the unabated road accidents in Chenab were a matter of great concern and he & His party feels highly concerned about the safety of people. drawing the attention of Governor “there is an immediate need to have a comprehensive road safety action plan to contain the rising number of accidents”.
Asif Iqbal, stressed upon the authority concerned to streamline the Traffic management & enforce traffic regulation norms adding that screening test about proficiency skill of drivers and to cheek overloading, phasing out of outdated passenger vehicles should be ensured at all cost & besides this verification of driving licenses of drivers forthwith stern action against erring persons. He also urged the road mainating authorities to undertake repairs of road which fall under their respective jurisdiction besides this deamnded induction of SRTC buses in all routes of the chenab Valley.
