Chairman Block Development Council Thathri Muzaffer Hussain Bagwan has supported the Regularisation demand of the employees of centrally sponsored scheme Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Casual labour and daily wager employees of all the departments.
In his press statement Chairman BDC Thathri said that the MGNREGA Employees, casual labours and daily wagers of PHE, Power development department, municipality, Education, social Forest, NRHM, Education etc are the backbone of the development of JKUT.
He said that in this era of high inflation these low paid employees are forced to work on the meagre salaries which is causing numerous problems to meet the basic expenses of their families. He said that in this competitive era they are unable to give the standard education to their children, most of them are not able to give regular medicine to their ailing parents. He said that all these employees are working day night at the risk of their lives since their engagement. He lauded their role especially during this COVID-19 pandemic and said that government is allegedly paying deaf ears to their burning problems.
He further added that the the MGNREGA Employees are working since 2005, the PHE daily rated employees are working since 1994 and other daily wagers and Casual labours are working for the last two decades but no time bound policy of their regularisation has been framed by the successive governments.
Castigating the government Muzaffer Hussain Bagwan said that all the previous governments have failed to fulfill their promises and have betrayed these employees time and again. He reminded that the J&K Government headed by Mehbooba Mufti in 2014 had promised to regularise sixty thousand daily rated and casual labour employees in a phased manner now six years have passed but the government has failed to fulfill it’s promise. He said that thousands of posts are lying vacant in all the departments but government is not deliberately adjusting them on these posts.
BDC Chairman Thathri has urged the Lieutenant Governor JKUT to ponder into the hardships being faced by MNREGA employees, Daily wagers and casual labour employees of all the departments and make a policy to regularise these employees in a time bound manner. He also appealed the Lieutenant Governor JKUT to enhance their wages keeping in view the modern prices till the process of their regularisation is completed.
