How Thathri deserves district status and why is it important?
Thathri is a town, tehsil, and sub division in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Some quick points about Thathri
In 1981, Thathri was upgraded to a new tehsil in Doda district. In 2010, Thathri village was upgraded as town. Later, in 2014, it was upgraded as Sub Division. And currently, it possesses five tehsils such as Kahara, Thathri, Phagsoo, Bhella and Chiralla. And is the central place for eight tehsils viz Bunjwah and Drabshalla of Kishtwar district, Mahalla tehsil of Doda district and five of its own Tehsils.
Main Problems in Thathri Subdivision and town
- PHE and Irrigation and some others alike Departments’ Divisional Office of Thathri are in Kishtwar city.
- Revenue and other alike departments have headquarter in Doda city.
- Despite being Sub Division, Thathri Police Station’s Headquarter is in Bhaderwah.
- In the town, there is no parking facilities for vehicles.
- Despite being the center of eight tehsils, Govt Higher Secondary for Boys is not in the town.
- The administration failed to establish GDC Thathri in or near the town for the past nine years due to some controversies over land for the college. GDC currently is in old block Department building.
There are many more problems, as Thathri is hanging between two districts, people of Thathri face so much hardship. So the final solution is the status of district. If Thathri gets the district status with surrounding eight tehsils, it will be the solution for all the problems issues discussed above. We can get all facilities at Thathri, so that near about one Lakh population of the surrounding tehsils and Thathri will get maximum relief.
One common question from the public
Due to backwardness, most of the people think Thathri is a small town, and they argue that there is no place for establishing any offices. But I must say that there is nothing impossible. There is so much place for establishing offices. As India is becoming advance in technologies, that’s why everything in developing Thathri sub division is possible.
