To mark the adoption of Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly, District Legal Services Authority Bhaderwah under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Bhaderwah Ashok Kumar Shavan today celebrated Constitution Day in the premises of the District Court Complex here today which was also attended by all judicial officers including Sub Judge Reenu Dogra Gupta , Munsiff Judge Sandeep Sen and staff members of the court . On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India had adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26 January 1950. On November 19, 2015, Government of India had declared 26 November as Constitution and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made the declaration in this regard on 11 October 2015 while laying the foundation stone of the B R Ambedkar memorial in Mumbai. Pr District and Sessions Judge Ashok Kumar Shavan read the preamble of the constitution and threw light on aims , objectives and significance of the day .He said Constitution Day or Samvidhan Diwas is celebrated annually in India on 26 November. The day is also known as National Law Day. The day commemorates the adoption of the Constitution in India. On this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India formally adopted the Constitution of India that came into force on 26 January 1950, he added . Secretary DLSA Sushil Singh informed that the Constitution is a set of written principles and precedents of the Government of India that frames fundamental political principles, procedures, rights, directive principles, restrictions, and duties of the government and the citizens of the country . It declares India to be a sovereign, secular, socialist, and democratic republic and assures its citizens’ equality, liberty, and justice. Advocate Mohd Majid Malik also spoke on the occasion and said constitution day aims to bring awareness about the importance of the constitution and Dr B R Ambedkar . He said B R Ambedkar , Chairman of the drafting committee is considered to be the chief architect of the constitution of India and is also called the father of the Indian Constitution who studied the constitutions of over 60 countries before drafting the constitution of India . The Constituent Assembly met for 166 days for two years, 11 months, and 18 days before the Constitution was finally adopted and the members of the Constituent Assembly signed two hand-written copies of the document on 24 January 1950 and two days later, it became the law of the land , added Adocate Mohd Majid Malik .
