In order to create interest in mathematics among students, a Maths Olympiad for students of classes 9 to 12 was organized by Mendhar Gunners at Mukaddas Degree College on the occasion of National Mathematics Day.
Every year National Mathematics Day is celebrated on 22 December to commemorate the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujam, an Indian Mathematician who made significant contributions to several fields of mathematics. On the occasion a lecture for students on various scholarship schemes for higher education sponsored by the government of India was also conducted by Mendhar Gunners.
Speaking to the students on the occasion, Mendhar Garrision Commander asked students to seek inspiration from Sri Ramanujam’s works and contributions and strive towards excelling in all spheres of education for a brighter future. He also said that education is the key to success and the children of today will be the contributors of development in the UT as well as country in future.
On the occasion, Mendhar Garrison Commander distributed education material and sweets among all students and gave away prizes to Winners & Runners Up of the Olympiad from each class. Ms Uzma Araf, Ms Huma Khan, Zeeshan Ahmed and Ms Sadia Mustafa excelled in Maths Olympiad and emerged winners. The Garrison Commander also thanked and appreciated the efforts of Mr Muneer Hossain Shah, Chairman, Mukaddas Degree College for his contributions in education field for children of Mendhar Town.
