Indian army going as per it ethos and tradition to inculcate sportsmanship, camaraderie and will to win conducted the ‘Mendhar premier league’ in coordination with mendhar cricket committee wef 10 Dec 2020 to 29 Dec 2020. This event was the first of its kind conducted by the Mendhar Gunners at the Mendhar Garrison, OP Hill stadium.
The 19 day long sensation cricket extravaganza witnessed the participation of 32 teams each striving hard to become the ‘Mendhar Champ’. The tournament was played on a knock out basis. The first match of the tournament was played between Banolla warrior and Mendhar gladiators on 10 Dec 2020 and the grand finale was played on 29 Dec 2020 between Five star and MCC. Team Five star has come out as ‘Mendhar Champ’ defeating MCC by one wicket.
Brigadier Rahul Thapliyal,Sena Medal , commander 25 Artillery brigade the chief guest on the occasion congratulated the players for hard earned and we’ll deserving accolades on the culmination day. the commander felicitated both the winners and the runner up team by giving them medals and cash incentives of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5000 to winners and runner up respectively. The event was also witnessed by Mr Zaffar Hussain and Mr wasim Raza , vice president of J and K cricket association.
Brigadier Rahul thapliyal , Sena medal, 25 Artillery brigade conveyed his wishes to the Mendhar Gunners and the Mendhar cricket committee for the successful conduct the event. He laid the emphasis on the importance of games and sports in our lives and the need to harness the potential in the youth of the present generation.The Commander also reiterated that the Army and civil administration can together give a good and a stable platform to our youths and thus giving them a chance to contribute to the nation building.
