JKAP 6th battalion organized tree plantation drive in collaboration with social forestry department at Battalion headquarter Behra.
The tree plantation drive was conducted with an aim to beautify the area and to contribute for the green drive of our country. The aim was also to fight against global warming and thereby reducing its impact on climate change and ultimately for the better environment for the next generations”.
A total of 200 saplings of locally available flora which include medicinal plants, ornamental plants, creeper varieties and fruit plants were planted. The police personnel of JKAP 6th Bn. are encouraging the locals to do the same so that a large number of saplings can be locally prepared and planted for increasing the green cover of the area. In addition to this all the JKAP police personnel pledged to carry forward the initiative and to contribute actively towards increasing the green cover at various locations throughout district Poonch.
Shri Suram Singh, JKPS (SSP) Commandant JKAP 6TH Battalion on this occasion said that the main duty of police is to maintain law and order in the district and other parts of the UT but protection and conservation of environment is also a moral duty on our part. Such drives would continue in future also. On this occasion sh.Mohd Farooq Khan, DySP, sh. Naveed Iqbal DFO Social Forestry department, Poonch and more than 70 JKAP police personnel and staff of said social forestry department also participated. Whole exercise was carried out while maintaining the social distance and while observing other COVID related guidelines.
