An elderly man drowned into river Jhelum in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district while performing ablution on Tuesday afternoon.
An official told KNO that the elderly man namely as Ghulam Rasool Shah, a resident of Natipora area of Sangam slipped into river Jhelum and drowned while he was performing ablution for prayers.
He said that soon after the incident, locals rushed to the spot and immediately started rescue operation to retrieve the body.
