Unknown shooters killed a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and wounded another BJP associate in the Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday evening, officials said.

Rakesh Pandit, a BJP politician was shot by suspected militants in Tral, according to an official, and he was taken to a local hospital, where doctors proclaimed him dead.
The official stated that he was shot at the residence of a neighbour, Mushtaq Ahmad, and that his daughter, Asifa Mushtaq, was also injured during the attack and has been moved to the Sub District Hospital Tral for treatment.
Meanwhile, officials claimed the area had been blocked off in order to apprehend the perpetrators.
