A man was slain when he refused to surrender after snatching a gun from a cop and injuring him while in police custody in the Tral region of South Kashmir’s Pulwama, police said.
According to a top official, Mohammed Amin Malik of Tral’s Nagabal Machama district, who was held a few days ago for interrogation, took a gun from SOG men today afternoon and shot at him, according to a news report published by The Chenab Times yesterday.
“At the time of the event, a cop named Amjid Ahmad was injured, and Amin sought refuge in the camp’s generator room,” he stated.
He went on to say that his family was rushed to the scene to convince him to surrender, but he declined all of the offers.
According to the top official, he fired on forces, who retaliated. The exchange of fire lasted several hours, and he was killed in the ensuing gunfight.
Officials said Muhammad Amin was a Pak-trained militant who had previously surrendered, been duly detained, and was being held on police remand.
Shabbir Malik, his brother, was also a militant associated with Zakir Moosa’s Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, who was killed in an encounter in 2019.
