On Sunday, the Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have apprehended a man in the Narwal area of Jammu who was carrying an alleged explosive substance.
Official sources told the news agency Kashmir News Observer that a man from Jammu division was roaming in the Narwal area under suspicious circumstances, prompting the police to launch an operation and track down the suspect.
“He was apprehended and a multi-kilogram substance, possibly an improvised explosive substance, was discovered in his possession,” they said.
They went on to say that the substance was intended to be used in a major strike in Jammu, but that it had been thwarted due to the suspect’s timely arrest.
“Further investigation and searches are being conducted in the area,” they said, adding that senior officers were keeping an eye on the operation.
