JKSSB Approves Panchayat Accounts Assistant Final Selection List

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) approved the final selection list and district allocation in favour of eligible candidates for the 1889 Accounts Assistant (Panchayat) posts in the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj at its 184th Board meeting.

Khalid Jahangir, Chairman of the J&K Services Selection Board, presided over the meeting.

In addition, the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj forwarded the requisitions for making recruitment to the 1889 posts of Accounts Assistant (Panchayat) in 20 districts of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir via communication dated 15.05.2020 in accordance with the latest Reservation Rules issued via S.O. 127 of 2020 dated 20.04.2020. The JJKSSB issued notification for the aforementioned 1889 Accounts Assistant (Panchayat) posts via advertisement notice number 02 of 2020 dated 06.07.2020, seeking online applications from eligible candidates. A total of 1.92 lakh candidates applied for the aforementioned positions, with 1.62 lakh of them taking the written test.

The OMR-based objective type written test for these posts was held on 10.11.2020 in all of Jammu and Kashmir’s districts, and the Board announced the results on 25.12.2020 based on the candidates’ performance in the OMR-based objective type written test.

This was the first major recruitment following the August 2019 constitutional changes, which stipulates that any resident of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, subject to the fulfilment of other conditions, is eligible to apply for any JKSSB-advertised post, including district cadre posts.

The Board also expressed its gratitude for the work done by the Selection Committee, which was formed specifically for the purpose of preparing and finalising the selection process.

The meeting was attended by Mohammad Shafiq Chak, Nazir Ahmad Khwaja, Pritam Lal Atri, Harvinder Kour, Ashiq Hussain Lily, Professor Tasleema Peer, members of J&K Services Selection Board; Ashok Kumar, Controller of Examination; Sachin Jamwal, Secretary SSB; Jang Bahadur, Special Secretary (Law); Suhail Muzaffar, Additional Secretary (Law); Vinay Khosla, Deputy Secretary and others.
