Uri Ex-Filtration: One More Guide Detained, Says Police

One more guide has been detained, according to police, in connection with the failed ex-filtration attempt along Uri in Baramulla district on July 2.

When the guide, Parvaiz Ahmad Hajam of Gohallan Uri, was interrogated, he admitted that another guide, Mohammad Majloon Sheikh son of Aakli Sheikh of Dudran Boniyar, was also involved in the act of exfiltration of the three youth to Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Based on his confession, the guide was arrested and incriminating material was discovered in his possession, according to a police statement.

Police received specific information that three local youths had been received by one Parvaiz Ahmad Hajam (guide) in order to exfiltrate them to Pakistan through the Gowhallan sector, according to a statement from a police spokesman.

The detained youths were identified as Mohammad Shafi Hajam son of Abdul Ahad Hajam, Reyaz Ahmad Bhat son of Manzoor Ahmad, both residents of Sheeri Mirhar and Yasir Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad of Chatloora Sopore.

He had previously stated that “incriminating material” such as sharp knives, a torch, and other items had been recovered from their possession. He had also stated that “a case has been registered under relevant sections of law and further investigation into the matter is currently underway. “
