Kashmir: Young Army Porter goes missing in Kupwara

On Wednesday, a 23-year-old army porter went missing in the Kupwara district of north Kashmir, according to his family and officials.

The family of the porter, Javaid Ahmed Magrey, son of Bashir Ahmed Magrey of Parmohalla Keegam Kupwara, filed a missing report with the police on August 3, according to official sources.

Javaid, who worked as a porter with the 41 RR Army Camp Kalaroose, left home three weeks ago for Kalaroose, according to his father. “His phone was constantly switched off, and we thought it might be due to technical issues,” the youth’s father, Bashir Ahmad Magrey, told Kashmir-based news agency GNS. “When no contact was made, we approached the army, who informed us that he had not reported to the camp.”

On August 3, the family filed a missing persons report with Police Post Drugmulla. The filing of the missing report was confirmed by a police official. The official added, “Further proceedings have been launched.”
