US: Armed man shot and killed attempting to force himself into home, says police

During an attempted home invasion at an apartment complex in Gahanna, Ohio, on Sunday night, a suspected intruder was shot and killed, according to police.

Around 8:31 p.m., a resident in the 800 block of Falcon Hunter Way contacted 911 to report a shooting.

According to the man who reported the event, someone knocked on his door, and when he answered it, a man with a gun tried to force his way in. That’s when the resident of the flat claimed he shot the suspect and saw a second man flee.

Officers from Gahanna arrived on the scene to find two guys residing in the flat and a man on the ground with a chest wound.

Officers continued CPR until Mifflin Township medics arrived. The man who was shot was brought to Mt. Carmel East Hospital, but he died shortly after.
The incident, as well as the people involved, is still being investigated by police. They’ll collaborate with the Franklin County Coroner’s Office to determine the suspected suspect’s cause of death and identity.

Investigators are requesting anyone who saw anything or knows anything about what happened on Falcon Hunter Way to call the Gahanna Division of Police Detectives at 614-342-4240.
