Farmers protest: Traffic slows at Delhi-UP border; Here are the alternate routes

The Delhi Traffic Police on Wednesday said the traffic movement is slow from point of Uttar Pradesh Gate, Ghazipur border at Delhi-UP border due to farmers protest.

The Delhi Traffic Police said that commuters can take these routes for Ghaziabad:

  • As per the Delhi Traffic Police, commuters are advised to take Akshardham Setu towards Noida and Vikas Marg for Ghaziabad.
  • Road no 57 A to Hasanpur for Shahdara, Anand Vihar and Ghaziabad.
  • From roundabout Ghazipur towards Anand Vihar, Bhopura Border Chowk Ghaziabad via road number 56
  • From round about Murga Mandi towards Dr Hadgavayar Marg then Nala Road up to UP Gate Ghaziabad for Vaishali Vasundhara Ghaziabad via paper market Ghaziabad.
Separately, the Uttar Pradesh administration has refused to let a five-member Congress delegation led by Rahul Gandhi to visit the Lakhimpur Kheri area, citing Section 144 of the CrPC.

Violence occurred during a farmers’ demonstration in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday, killing eight people before of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit. Among those killed were farmers and BJP members.

During the fight near Banbirpur, irate farmers set fire to two SUVs.

Following the violent incident in Lakhimpur Kheri, political figures rushed to the scene and stated their willingness to meet the victims’ families.

Priyanka Gandhi Varda, the Congress national secretary, and 11 others were charged with “disturbing the peace” in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
