A gunfight broke out in Srinagar’s Methan area on Saturday, according to the Jammu and Kashmir police.
“Second encounter has started at Methan area of Srinagar. Police and CRPF are on the job. Further details shall follow,” the police said in a statement posted on its official Twitter handle.
An earlier shootout at Natipora near the post office region of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district killed at least of one militant and the escape of another.
According to a police officer, militants opened fire on a police party near Natipora, prompting retaliation and a brief skirmish.
One militant was killed in the gunfight, while another managed to flee the scene, he claimed.
