Civilian killings an attempt to create communal divide in Kashmir: GoC 15 Corps

“People of Valley will stand together and expose these elements”

Lt General DP Pandey, the General Officer Commanding of the Army’s 15 Corps, stated on Sunday that those responsible for recent civilian killings in Kashmir seek to create a communal divide in the Valley, and that the people will expose these forces.

According to the news agency Kashmir News Observer, the GOC told reporters on the sidelines of a function in north Kashmir’s Baramulla region that the people of Kashmir would find out who was responsible for the killings.

“These killings are condemnable and I am hopeful that Kashmiri society will find out those behind these killings and would expose these people who want to create a communal divide in Kashmir,” he said.

He stated that the people of Kashmir, regardless of faith, would unite to expose these groups. “I believe there is no distinction between Sikhs, Muslims, and Hindus in the Kashmir valley,” he stated.

These elements, according to the GOC, are disappointed by recent positive developments in Kashmir.

“A lot of activities are taking place in the Kashmir valley for the past one year and the enemies of peace are not happy with all the happenings in the positive direction”, he said. “The enemies of Kashmiri people and the peace are not happy with this and that is why all this is being done.”

In response to media concerns, the GoC stated that the Line of Control (LoC) is completely safe and that there is no need to be concerned.

The GoC was at Baramulla for a Parivar school function in the Baramulla area of north Kashmir.

He stated that they want youngsters to be self-sufficient and contribute to society, and that the Parivar school in Baramulla will be outfitted with current technology for the students’ benefit.
