In a controversial post, DDC Marwah Sheikh Zafarullah captioned a photo on Facebook in which Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattoo, along with SMC Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan, were briefing the media on the UNESCO tag for Srinagar. Zafar writes, “Red one who topped in IAS and blue one who topped in chaplosi. Mak-karon ki dunya,” pointing out the red one to SMC Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan and the blue one to Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattoo.
Sheikh Zafarullah is a DDC councillor from the Marwah constituency of Kishtwar district who is always seen criticising the Bhartiya Janata Party, recently headlined in national media after an open spat with a journalist in Kishtwar in June this year. According to Times Now, during a meeting with the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu in June this year, the independent DDC member of Marwah, Sheikh Zafarullah, allegedly demanded merging the Marwah subdivision with China. After local media and some DDC members argued, the controversy between journalist and DDC member Sheikh Zafarullah erupted. The controversy was later clarified after some days.
