CNN president Jeff Zucker resigns after relationship with co-worker

Jeff Zucker mentioned on Wednesday he’s resigning as president of CNN and chairman of WarnerMedia’s information and sports activities division, issuing a workers memo by which he acknowledged he did not disclose a consensual relationship with an in depth colleague.

“As a part of the investigation into Chris Cuomo’s tenure at CNN, I used to be requested a couple of consensual relationship with my closest colleague,” Zucker wrote within the memo. “I used to be required to reveal it when it started however I didn’t.”

Zucker couldn’t instantly be reached for remark. In a memo to workers, WarnerMedia Chief Government Jason Kilar wrote: “I’ve accepted Jeff Zucker’s resignation as Chairman of WarnerMedia Information and Sports activities, and President of CNN Worldwide.”

“We thank Jeff for his contributions over the previous 9 years.

We will likely be saying an interim management plan shortly,” he added.

Zucker, who joined CNN in 2013, has a storied repute within the TV enterprise marked by early success. He was the chief producer of NBC’s “At the moment” present in his 20s, then grew to become the president of NBC Leisure.

CNN is a part of AT&T-owned WarnerMedia, which is being spun off in a $43 billion transaction with Discovery Inc. Reuters
