US: News report brings together brothers who were not aware of each other

In Hindi films, long-lost brothers reuniting after years apart was previously a common storytelling aspect. However, reality can be stranger than fiction in some circumstances, as two long-lost brothers recently discovered each other thanks to a news programme.

The dramatic incident occurred in California, United States, and a video of their meeting has gone viral online.

Randy Waites had turned on the television a few days ago to watch the local news. He realised that the person being interviewed, Eddie Waites, had the same last name as him in a report about snowfall in Lake Tahoe that was shown on channel KCRA 3.

Randy Waites, who had never seen his father or even seen a photograph of him, was fascinated. Eddie Waites had the same last name as him, and their physical attributes were similar, so he wondered if there was a connection. He urged his daughter to search up the individual from the interview on the internet. Waites’ phone number was found by his daughter, and their first conversation resulted in an unexpected revelation.

“It just clicked, like we’ve been friends for 20 years,” Randy said, talking about their phone call, as per reports. “It’s just unbelievable.”

The two long-lost brothers then met for the first time. The video of the reunion was shared by KCRA report Stephanie Lin on her social media account. The short clip featured the two brothers smiling and posing together.
