On the basis of inputs about inimical elements planning to cause disturbance and communal situation through Pakistan-based terror handlers, a joint operation was established at Check Post Thathri by a team of Rashtriya Rifles based at Thathri, J&K Police Doda and SSB Unit at Thathri from around 0900 hours and frisking was noticed and checked.
As per information available with The Chenab Times that during the search of vehicles and passengers, the security forces noticed the suspicious movement of one person who was trying to evade checking and frisking at around 1800 hrs., wherein the same person was carrying live arms ammunition and a pistol.
The security forces immediately overpowered him and, on frisking/personal search, recovered one Chinese pistol, two magazines, and nine rounds of live ammunition from his possession.
The arrested accused has been identified as Adil Iqbal Butt S/O Mohd Iqbal Butt R/O Sazan, Bajarni, District Doda, and a preliminary investigation revealed that he was being handled by Mohd Amin @ Muzambil @ Haroon @ Umar, a terrorist from Doda and operating from Pakistan.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 0025/2022 under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Thathri and further investigation has been taken up.
