A major drug trafficking attempt was thwarted, with approximately 15 kg of narcotics substance recovered near Loc Mendhar in Poonch district.
According to an official statement issued to The Chenab Times, several attempts have recently been made from across the LoC for infiltration and the shipment of arms, ammunition, and drugs. Such attempts were always thwarted by alert troops stationed on LoC. In a joint search operation that was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Balakote sector of Mendhar, during the search, troops recovered one bag carrying 15 packets of narcotics like substance weighing almost 15 kg.
The recovery was made from the spot and, in this regard, FIR. No. 34/2022 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Mendhar and investigation started.
This major drug recovery is seen as a major achievement for security forces. Further searches in the area are still going on.
