Continuing its efforts to extend help and assistance to downtrodden sections under the Civic Action Programme, SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, along with SDPO Gandoh Shahzada Kabir Matoo and Insp Vikram Singh, SHO PS Gandoh, paid a visit on Saturday to Chilly Gandoh and distributed study materials, which included school bags, note books, etc., to school children studying in various government schools in far-flung areas and belonging to poor and downtrodden families.
The programme was organised at Govt. Hr. Secondary School Chilly Gandoh where study materials were distributed to the children of the poor category studying in government schools located in far-flung areas like Kota-Kharangal, Manoo, Sawara, Hadal, Malath Batholi etc. This goodwill gesture on the part of the police was highly appreciated by the locals of the area, and while speaking on the occasion, the prominent citizens of the area said that a lot of efforts are being made by the police to listen to and redress the grievances of the general public and all possible help is being extended to needy people residing in remote areas of the district.
Thereafter, SSP Doda held a public meeting which was attended by prominent citizens, elderly people, PRI functionaries, and a huge crowd of locals. The participants lauded the role of the police in conducting such public outreach programmes to listen to the problems of the general public in remote areas. At the meeting, participants highlighted various issues and demands of the area, and SSP Doda assured them that their demands would be taken up at an appropriate level for redressal.
While speaking on the occasion, SSP Doda urged the participants to maintain brotherhood, peace and communal harmony to build a peaceful atmosphere. The participants were exhorted to provide co-operation and assistance to the police so that social evils like drug smuggling, illicit liquor, bovine smuggling and other social crimes are eradicated from society. The participants were also urged upon to keep an eye and watch on their wards and make them understand good and bad habits so that they may not fall prey to drugs or other criminal-related activities that would spoil their career. They were also informed to provide inputs/information to the police regarding drug smuggling or any other crime-related activities so that culprits could be booked.
