Continuing its move against drug abuse and illicit liquor, the Jammu and Kashmir Police of Doda arrested two bootleggers from the two villages of Bhaderwah.
In a statement issued to The Chenab Times, Doda Police said that police parties while on patrol in different areas of Bhaderwah have recovered a huge quantity of illicit liquor.
While giving details, police said that two FIRs were registered at PS Bhaderwah following the recovery of a huge quantity of illicit liquor and lahan from different places in the Bhaderwah area.
In Case FIR No. 43/2022, U/S 48 (e) Excise Act, 13 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the possession of one person, namely Vijay Kumar S/O Ram Raj R/O Dragu, Tehsil Bhaderwah.
In another case, FIR No. 42/2022, under Section 48(e) of the Excise Act, 25 litres of illicit liquor and approximately 120 litres of lahan were recovered from the possession of one person, Bodh Raj S/O Tej Ram R/O Bagan Gutassa Tehsil Bhaderwah.
Both accused were arrested on the spot, and an investigation into the cases was launched.Doda Police has appealed to the general public to cooperate and assist the police so that drug smuggling, manufacturing/selling of illicit liquor and other crime-related activities are rooted out of society and a crime-free atmosphere is built up.
