Jammu and Kashmir police arrested two people involved in illegal mining in the Thathri area of Doda district, police said on Tuesday.
As per information available with The Chenab Times, in its continuing special drive against illegal mining, Doda Police today seized two vehicles and registered an FIR against two people for involvement in illegal mining in the Thathri area of Doda District.
In a statement issued to The Chenab Times, Doda Police said that acting on specific information about the illegal transportation of minor minerals, a police party of Police Post Karara (Thathri) led by SI Sugreev Kumar, I/C PP Karara, caught (02) Tippers bearing Reg. No JK06D-2299 & No JK14D-4777 on the highway in the Thathri area, which were found loaded with the sand being taken illegally by the drivers of the vehicles.
In this connection, case FIR No. 47/2022 U/S 188/IPC has been registered at PS Thathri against vehicle drivers, namely Sadam Hussain S/o Gh. Hassain R/o Nai Basti Hameer Pura and Shahzeem S/o Mohd Isaq R/o Dadota Barshalla, who have been arrested and both the vehicles involved in illegal transportation of sand have been seized. The investigation into the case is going on.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the police have continued a special drive against mining mafias and so far a number of FIRs have been registered and vehicles involved in illegal transportation of minor minerals have been seized.
