In a horrific incident, two cattle were killed after a wild bear allegedly attacked them during an interviewing night of Monday and Tuesday.
Locals told The Chenab Times that two cattle belonging to Mohd Amin Mir, of Ratchoo Mohalla in Aishmuqam, were attacked by bears last night, killing them.This incident of bear attack has sent shock waves around the adjacent Aishmuqam township, Ainoo Brai, Iram colony, etc. as it has been reported that the bears and leopards are frequently seen roaming around these areas, coming down from the forests above Iram colony, Naadandhar, and Aino.
They also said that people are scared to come out even during the day time.
Haji Nazir Ahmad Maharaza, the local Muazzin of Moulvi Masjid in Iram colony, is scared to recite Azaan because of the threat of wild bears. Last year, the bears attacked the cow shed of Abdul Majeed Bala, whose family had a narrow escape.
Locals also alleged that the wild life department is in slumber waiting for human casualties. The president of the intizaamia committee, Aishmuqam Mohd Yaqoob Gadiyal, Haji Gh Mohd Dar, president of Jamia Masjid Aishmuqam also echoes similar concerns and has appealed to the wildlife department to take all possible action to protect the lives and livestock of people in this area.
Nazir Ahmed, a local, has urged the district administration, ULB department and PDD to ensure the street lights on Ziarat Road to check the movement of the wild bears and leopards who, as per him, roam around at ease on the above road.
The people have appealed to the government to rescue them from this insecurity and unsafe environment because of wild animals.
