A man was arrested with a heroin-like substance in the Bhaderwah area of Doda district, a police official said.
In a statement issued to The Chenab Times, Doda Police said that a police party from Police Station Bhaderwah led by PSI Deepak Kumar was on naka-checking duty at Domail Bhaderwah. During the checking/frisking, the police party stopped a vehicle (Maruti Swift) with registration number JK06A/2581 coming from the Doda side. On being stopped, the driver of the said vehicle acted suspiciously.
The Police Party, on getting suspicion, conducted checking and during checking/frisking, a heroin-like substance was recovered from the said vehicle, which was found to be wrapped in paper and concealed in the vehicle. On enquiry, the said person disclosed his name as Sadam Hussain alias Sanam Poonchi, son of Ali Mohd Zargar, resident of Chakka, Bhaderwah.
In this regard a case FIR No.132/2022 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bhaderwah and investigation has been taken up.
It is pertinent to mention here that Doda Police under Operation Sanjeevi has registered a number of cases and a number of drug peddlers have been booked. Besides, some drug peddlers have also been detained under preventive action to tighten the noose of drug peddlers.
