A man slapped a woman employee of a toll both in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday after she refused to let him go without paying the tax. A CCTV recording of the event shows the man walking irately towards the staffer before slapping her across the face. The woman responds by striking him with her footwear.
Rajkumar Gurjar claimed he shouldn’t be required to pay the toll fees because he was a local and his car did not have a FASTag, an electronic toll payment system. However, he had no supporting documentation.
On the Rajgarh-Bhopal highway, the event took place at the Kachnariya toll plaza.
“He said he was a local. I said but I don’t know you. I went and told the boss after that. The boss enquired as to whether I knew the man. After I responded “no,” the man stepped out of his vehicle, abused me, and hit me. I also hit him back,” said the toll booth employee, Anurandha Dangi, according to NDTV.
Speaking to the media, the woman claimed that the booth, which has seven female employees, is unguarded.
Despite a case being filed, the suspect has not yet been taken into custody.
“A complaint was made by toll plaza staff. The woman, Anuradha Dangi, filed a written complaint against the man and we lodged a case based on that. We have filed a complaint under Sections 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 354, 323 (voluntarily causing harm), and 506 (criminal intimidation). The accused is yet to be arrested,” said local police station in-charge Ramkumar Raghuvanshi.
