Imam Jamia Gandoh, Changa, calls on “Ulemas” and “Masjid Committees” to combat drug abuse

Terming the growing drug and liquor abuse in the Chenab region of Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Bhalessa of Doda district, a cause of great concern. In this regard, Imam Jamia Masjid Gandoh Mohd Shafi and Imam Jamia Masjid Changa Mollana Irfan today appealed to parents, teachers, Islamic scholars, Mohalla Committees, and Masjid Committees to wake up to this reality and take steps in this regard.

Addressing the Friday congregational, they said that the availability of drugs and their distribution has become a well-organized trade in this area where, during the evening hours, the peddlers openly distribute drugs to youth at graveyards, parks, play grounds, and anywhere.

They said the unfortunate part is that drug abuse is fast spreading in the areas and it’s the primary responsibility of the parents to give time to their children and be aware of their activities to help them keep away from drugs.

The Friday Sermon is a series of articles posted on Friday on The Chenab Times. The articles include positive messages from the Islamic clerics to the public.
