Azad appoints two ex-ministers as “office bearers” for DAP

In a new development, Ghulam Nabi Azad appointed former ministers as office bearers in his newly created Democratic Azad Party.

In a letter, Ghulam Nabi Azad, founder and chairman of DAP, wrote, “I am pleased to appoint the following two office bearers for the smooth functioning of the Democratic Azad Party (DAP).”

Ex-Minister Taj Mohi ud Din was named Treasurer, and R.S. Chib was named General Secretary, according to the letter.

Azad, 73, who quit the Congress on August 26, launched DAP in Jammu on September 26 with the support of dozens of former ministers, ex-legislators, and other prominent leaders, most of whom also resigned from the Congress in his support.

They include Tara Chand, a former deputy chief minister, as well as Manohar Lal Sharma, Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, Taj Mohiuddin, G. M. Saroori, R. S. Chib, Jugal Kishore, and others.
