The Assistant Labour Commissioner of Kishtwar, Amit Kumar, was also present at the ceremony. As per The Chenab Times sources, the company has deposited the compensation amount in all three cases, however, the NoKs of the third victim were not present due to some unknown reason. The Deputy Commissioner asked the Assistant Labour Commissioner to ensure that the compensation is handed over to the NoKs of the third victim in accordance with the rules.

This tragic accident occurred at the work site of the Ratle Hydroelectric power project in Kishtwar’s Drabshalla on 29 October 2022, resulting in the loss of four lives including three working in HEP and a policeman. The Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Labour Commissioner were able to provide some comfort to the NoKs of two of the victims by providing them with the compensation they are entitled to under the Employees Compensation Act 1923. It is important to ensure that all victims and their families are properly compensated for any accidents that occur in the workplace.
