Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain was interrogated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Tihar Jail in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam, according to his lawyer on Wednesday. The investigation agency had applied for the interrogation before Special Judge MK Nagpal, which was granted on Friday. On Monday, the CBI questioned Jain in jail as per the court order. Jain is currently imprisoned in Tihar Jail in a money-laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate.
Jain’s counsel, Mohd Irshad, clarified that the Delhi Minister is not accused in the excise scam case. The interrogation comes in the midst of the ongoing investigation into the Delhi excise policy scam, in which several officials have been accused of allowing the sale of counterfeit liquor in the national capital.
The Delhi excise department had launched an inquiry into the scam after receiving complaints of the sale of illicit liquor in the city. The CBI is investigating the case based on the inquiry’s report.
