Pro-Khalistan Leader’s Uncle and Driver Arrested in Punjab Police Crackdown

In a major development in the ongoing hunt for Pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh, his uncle and driver have surrendered before the Punjab police. The uncle and driver of the absconding Khalistani sympathiser surrendered on Saturday night, according to Swarndeep Singh, SSP Jalandhar Rural.

“Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh’s uncle and driver surrendered before the Punjab police last night,” reported news agency ANI, citing the SSP. The hunt for Amritpal, however, is still on, the SSP said.

The state police have already arrested 112 supporters of Amritpal, with the Punjab government launching a major crackdown against him and his outfit, ‘Waris Punjab De’. On Sunday, the police conducted flag marches and searches across the state in their manhunt for Amritpal.

The day before, the police had arrested 78 members of the outfit, but Amritpal had managed to escape after his cavalcade was intercepted in Jalandhar district.

The surrender of Amritpal’s uncle and driver is being seen as a major breakthrough in the police’s efforts to nab the Pro-Khalistan leader. However, with Amritpal still on the run, the police are expected to intensify their search operations in the coming days.
