Two Kolkata Tourists Killed, Three Injured in South Kashmir’s Bijbehara Road Accident

In a tragic accident in the Bijbehara area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir, two tourists lost their lives while three others sustained injuries. The incident took place on Tuesday when an ETIOS car bearing registration number JK02BE 3157 collided with a truck bearing registration number JK03A 8931 near Arwani bridge in Bijbehara.

According to officials, the collision resulted in injuries to five persons who were travelling in the car. One of the injured persons, identified as Karuna Sardar, a resident of Kolkata and wife of Dayal Sardar, succumbed to her injuries soon after the accident. Later, another tourist named Ritu Devi, also from Kolkata, passed away due to the injuries sustained in the accident, taking the death toll to two.

The other three injured persons were identified as Rakesh, son of Ratan Lal from Udhampur, and Nandita Vedi and Bahnolal Chjerveti, both residents of Kolkata. They were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

The police have registered a case in connection with the incident for further investigations. A police official confirmed the incident and assured that necessary actions would be taken to ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future.
