As part of its ongoing operation “SANJEEVANI” to crack down on drug peddlers, Doda Police has made a significant arrest. One Special Police officer (SPO) has been arrested for his involvement in drug peddling in Doda town.
The Arrest of the SPO
According to reliable sources of police, Javed Ahmed, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Hamdanpur Doda, was involved in drug peddling in Doda town. The police received information about his activities and promptly swung into action. A Police Party of Police Post DH Doda apprehended the accused person and recovered charas-like substances during a search of his possessions. On enquiry, it was found that the accused person was serving as a Special Police officer (SPO) and was posted in DPL Doda, according to a statement issued to The Chenab Times.
The Case against the Accused
In connection with the arrest of the SPO, case FIR No. 53/2023 has been registered under relevant provisions of law at Police Station Doda. The investigation of the case has begun, and the police are interrogating the accused to ascertain his links and nexus with other drug peddlers in the area.
Measures Taken by the Police
Doda Police has launched a massive hunt for drug smugglers and black traders. The police have warned them to desist from their nefarious activities, failing which stern action would be taken. This action includes detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA), attachment of moveable/immoveable property of the smugglers, and registration of FIR against them. The police have also made it clear that anyone, be it a police officer/official or any government employee, found involved in such black trade will not be spared.
