Ex-serviceman opens fire at wife in Kishtwar, injures daughter too

In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old woman was injured when her husband, identified as ex-serviceman Ghulam Hussain, allegedly opened fire at her with a 12-bore rifle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. The incident took place on Tuesday night in the Anjolegwari area of the Thakrai belt of the district.

According to police, Hussain also tried to end his life by shooting himself after attacking his wife. In the process, a bullet hit his 13-year-old daughter, injuring her as well. The three were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical assistance.

Police officials have initiated an investigation into the matter and have registered a case against Hussain. The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this time.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the region, with locals expressing concern over the increasing number of domestic violence and suicide cases in the area. Last month, a 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with the weapon of his brother, who is a village defence committee(VDC) member, in Sindra village of Bhalla tehsil in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district.
