In a successful operation, the Indian Army thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Mendhar sector of Poonch district. According to official sources, an intruder or a group of intruders was intercepted and neutralized during the intervening night of May 19 and 20.
Acting swiftly upon detecting the intruders crossing the LoC, the Indian Army launched a well-coordinated operation, preventing any untoward incident. During the subsequent search, an improvised explosive device (IED) was discovered at the site. The security forces took immediate action and safely destroyed the IED in situ, averting any potential harm it could have caused.
In addition to the IED, the search operation also led to the recovery of a significant quantity of narcotics. The recovered drugs were promptly seized by the authorities, highlighting the involvement of nefarious elements in smuggling illicit substances across the LoC.
