Early this morning, a fire broke out in Kalantara Payeen village in Baramulla district, resulting in damage to at least two residential houses. Prompt intervention by the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Department prevented the fire from spreading further.
According to reports the fire originated in a residential house in Kalantara Kreeri. It quickly engulfed a neighboring house, but swift action by the F&ES Department contained the fire’s progress. As a result, two residential properties sustained damage to specific areas.
A spokesperson from the F&ES Department stated that the fire was reported at 5:10 am in Kalantara Kreeri. The affected houses included one single-storey and one double-storey structure. Fire service personnel arrived at the scene within three minutes, commencing a firefighting operation that lasted approximately three and a half hours. The diligent efforts of the firefighters successfully brought the fire under control, minimizing the damage to the involved properties.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries resulting from the incident, as confirmed by the F&ES Department official. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations into the matter are underway.
