In a major crackdown against the sale and purchase of illicit drugs, Kishtwar police today booked Delhi based Pharma company & courier agency for felicitating the illegal sale of drugs through online platform, a first of its kind major action against online pharmacy company for supplying banned drugs in J&K.
As per the details available The Chenab Times, following massive crackdown by Kishtwar police against drug paddlers involved in sale of Heroine/Brown Sugar and other psychotropic drugs including tablets, Kishtwar police today busted online sale of banned drugs purchased through Zeelab pharmacy involving local courier companies and booked 4 persons beside the courier company as well as the online pharmaceutical company Zeelab Pharmacy for promoting trade of illicit drugs used by the drug paddler to counter shortage of high grade drugs like heroine that fell short in the market following police action against the drug paddlers involved in heroine trade. Several drug paddlers were book and jailed by the Kishtwar police in last few months beside habitual drug paddlers were also booked under PIT NDPSA.
SSP Kishtwar Mohammad Khalil Poswal while divulging details said that on the bases of the specific inputs received by Kishtwar police about sale of online procurement of drugs through a high profile nexus with involvement of Delhi based Pharmaceutical company wherein the people (paddlers) from different places placed online orders by making online payments and received the same through courier companies.
“We felt need to break this nexuses and in this connection FIR No. 116/2023 was registered at police station Kishtwar against Zeelab pharmacy and conduce- a courier agency who are the receiver of the consignment for which an FIR was registered against them” said SSP Kishtwar.
SSP Kishtwar further said that the drugs consignment which cannot be procured without any prescription was seized by the police and same was a matter of concern for them.
He said that this is a big success for Kishtwar Police towards controlling procurement and sale of drugs added that police has begin to crackdown on the supplier and the receiver.
“It will help us to control the drug menace and in future we are going to take stern action against such companies” said SSP Kishtwar.
He said that one accused has brought 20 packets of drugs within one month and said that police is looking forward to scrutinised the record added that the account in which money has been transferred for procurement of these banned drugs will be frizzed.
He said that the gravity of the offence is so high since huge quantity of drugs has been procured by the accused persons in recent past.
He said that the responsibility lies on the courier company to inform the police about such huge procurement of drugs by a single person which they didn’t before police break this nexus. He said that courier companies should install scanner to check for supply banned drugs procured through online Pharma companies. He said that the police in presence of magistrate seized the banned drugs added that further details will be shared at later stage.
