In a tragic incident, two siblings lost their lives while another sustained injuries when the vehicle they were traveling in met with an accident in the Chamalwas area of Banihal in Ramban district this afternoon, according to officials.
The authorities reported that a devastating accident occurred when an Alto-800 with registration number JK02N 1856 skidded off the road, plunging into a 200-meter gorge at Rahampadi Chamalwas. The impact of the accident led to the immediate demise of two siblings and left another sibling injured.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Mohammad Afzal Malik (32) and Mohammad Azmat (55), while the injured person has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Malik. All three victims are the sons of Gull Mohammad Malik, a resident of Sarbhangi.
Upon receiving the distress call, emergency services promptly arrived at the scene and provided immediate medical assistance to the injured individual. The injured person was subsequently rushed to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal for further treatment, as confirmed by officials.
A police official, while confirming the incident, stated that the authorities have taken cognizance of the tragic mishap. Further investigations will be conducted to ascertain the cause of the accident and any potential contributing factors.
