In an unfortunate incident that occurred during the early hours today at 6:30 am, the house of Hassam Din s/o Gh. Haider Sheikh, located in the serene village of Tatani Saroor in Tehsil Drabshalla, was severely damaged due to heavy rainfall. However, the silver lining in this incident was that all the family members were fortunately unharmed.
Local activist, Khursheed Ahmed, brought this incident to the attention of The Chenab Times and expressed his concern for the affected family. He has now called upon the district administration to extend immediate relief to the Din family in their time of distress.
As the family members prepared to start their day and were about to have their morning tea, the unexpected disaster unfolded before their eyes. The entire room of their house suddenly collapsed, causing significant damage to the property and leaving them in a state of shock.
According to eyewitnesses, the relentless rain throughout the night had soaked the soil, weakening the foundation of the house. The continuous downpour led to the ultimate collapse of the room in the early morning hours, fortunately without any casualties or injuries to the residents.
Khursheed Ahmed, who is a local activist, expressed his relief that no harm came to the Din family. He stated, “It is a miracle that everyone is safe. However, the incident has left the family in a vulnerable position, with their dwelling now uninhabitable. Immediate support and relief measures are crucial to help them recover from this ordeal.”
The news of the incident has raised concerns among the locals, who are well aware of the region’s vulnerability to heavy rainfall and natural disasters. The need for proper infrastructure and precautions to mitigate such incidents is now under discussion.
In response to the situation, Khursheed Ahmed appealed to the district administration to swiftly assess the extent of the damages incurred by the Din family and provide them with the necessary assistance to rebuild their home. He emphasized the importance of proactive measures to protect vulnerable households in the area from similar incidents in the future.
While filing this report, we attempted to contact the local administration, but the call remained unanswered. However, the administration is expected to conduct a thorough evaluation of the situation and respond promptly to address the immediate needs of the Din family, ensuring that they can begin the process of rebuilding their lives and restoring their home.
