In a significant development, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, confirmed the successful operation against militants in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Two militants, including LeT commander Uzair Khan, were eliminated in a gunfight that transpired in the Gadole area.
The security forces carried out this operation, which culminated in the elimination of the high-profile militant leader, Uzair Khan. The ADGP Kashmir, while addressing the media, verified the death of the LeT commander and disclosed that the body of the second militant was also found near the encounter site.
The operation, which took place in the troubled region, comes in the wake of escalating tensions and violence in the area. Just last week, a tragic gunfight between militants and security forces in the same Gadole area resulted in the loss of several lives. An Army colonel, a Major, one soldier, and a DySP were among the casualties in that encounter.
In the aftermath of the successful operation against Uzair Khan and his associate, authorities have emphasized that the search operation in the region will continue. The primary objective of this extended operation is to ensure that there are no more militants hidden in the vicinity, thus ensuring the safety and security of the local population.
