In a significant development that has sent shockwaves through the region, the Jammu & Kashmir Police arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy. SP) Sheikh Aadil Mushtaq on Thursday on charges of corruption, extortion, and fraud, reports IANS.
Quoting official sources news agency IANS reported that a police team executed a search operation at the residence of Dy. SP Sheikh Aadil Mushtaq, located in Srinagar, two days ago. In a dramatic turn of events, Mushtaq attempted to evade arrest by fleeing his home. However, during the search of his residence, law enforcement officers unearthed a trove of potentially incriminating evidence, including documents and electronic devices stored on his laptop.
Subsequent to the search operation, an official First Information Report (FIR) was filed against the senior police officer at the Nowgam police station. Today, Sheikh Aadil Mushtaq was apprehended by the authorities, marking a significant escalation in the case.
To ensure a thorough and impartial investigation, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed under the supervision of SP South. This decision was made in recognition of the case’s possible far-reaching consequences and implications.
