In a recent development, the Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner in Mini Secretariat, Doda, has announced an extension of the deadline for scholarship applications for the academic year/session 2023-24, as per notice copy accessed by The Chenab Times. This decision comes in accordance with Circular No.CEO/J/JKBOCWWB -2023 dated 04-10-2023 issued by the Chief Executive Officer/Secretary of the J&K Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board in Jammu/Srinagar.
The new deadline for the receipt of scholarship forms through the e-portal has been extended until November 15, 2023. This extension provides eligible applicants with additional time to submit their applications for financial assistance.
One significant update in this notice is the expansion of eligibility criteria. The financial assistance for higher education is now open not only to registered active building and other construction workers but also to their children or dependents who are pursuing education through distance mode from IGNOU, Jammu University, or Kashmir University.
To apply for the Scholarship/Education Assistance for the Academic year/session 2023-24, applicants are required to provide the following documents:
- Photocopy of the previous year’s Marks Card of the Children/Dependent (Brother/Sister) duly self-attested.
- Bonafide Certificate.
- Unemployment Certificate from the concerned Tehsildar or a Gazetted Officer in the case of children/dependents of registered active construction workers pursuing education through distance mode.
- Fee paid receipt for various categories, including higher education (3 years diploma or 4 years degree courses), paramedical diploma/ITI courses, and undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
To facilitate the application process and provide support to active building and construction workers, an awareness camp is scheduled to be held from October 12, 2023, to October 13, 2023, at the Block Development Office in Marmat, Goha Tehsil Marmat. During this camp, online facilities for scholarship applications will be available on the spot, provided that applicants have all the required documents with them.
Additionally, this notice serves as an invitation to those building and other construction workers who have not yet registered themselves as beneficiaries. They are encouraged to attend the awareness camp on the scheduled dates for on-spot registration. To register, they must provide the following documents:
- Date of Birth Certificate (any school document) or, in the case of illiteracy, an age certificate from a Medical Officer duly countersigned by the concerned BMO or from the Registrar of Births and Deaths.
