Committee Formed to Address Public Concerns Over WSS Golla Kecha Project Execution

Kishtwar: In response to growing public concerns and following a report by The Chenab Times, a committee has been formed by the Office of the Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Hydraulic Division, Kishtwar, to investigate the execution of work under the Water Supply Scheme (WSS) Golla Kecha, which had been labeled as “languishing.”

The committee, composed of the following members, has been tasked with a set of critical responsibilities:

  1. AEE JSD Sub-Division Thathri
  2. AE JSD Sub-Division Thathri
  3. Syed Naved Anjum Sub-Division Thathri

The committee is expected to provide their findings and recommendations in a comprehensive report within 10 days.

This development comes in the wake of The Chenab Times’ coverage of the concerns raised by the local community. Notably, Raja Shakeel, a correspondent for The Chenab Times, had engaged in a conversation with Asif Iqbal Butt, a social activist, and Rafaqat Mir, a Ward Member, discussing these apprehensions. Coincidentally, soon after the story by The Chenab Times, the Office of the Executive Engineer took swift action to constitute this committee.

The directive for the committee’s formation was issued under the reference number JS HOK/23-24/7733-35, dated 12th October 2023, by the Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Hydraulic Division, Kishtwar. A copy of this directive has been forwarded to the Superintending Engineer, Jal Shakti Hydraulic Circle Doda, and the Assistant Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti PHE Sub Division Thathri, for their information and necessary action. Additionally, all relevant stakeholders have been notified for compliance.

As the committee begins its work, it is anticipated that their thorough investigation will help address the concerns raised by the local community and ensure transparency and accountability in the execution of the WSS Golla Kecha project.
