Special Summary Revision 2023: Yasha Mudgal Chairs Meeting to Review Electoral Rolls Progress in Kishtwar

Kishtwar – Yasha Mudgal-IAS, Commissioner Secretary Cooperatives and Electoral Roll Observer for Kishtwar, led a comprehensive review meeting today to assess the advancements made under the ongoing Special Summary Revision-2023 (SSR) of Electoral Rolls in the district.

Present at the meeting were Deputy Commissioner/District Election Officer Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav IAS, along with senior officers including Dy DEO Naresh Kumar, EROs, AEROs, and BLOs.

The EROs provided detailed insights into the progress and ongoing work related to SSR of Photo Electoral Rolls in their respective Assembly Constituencies. Commissioner Secretary Mudgal emphasized the importance of adhering to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and instructed the officials to activate Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to achieve set targets and ensure that no eligible voter is left unregistered.

A critical aspect of the meeting was the review of claims and objections received during the SSR-2023. Commissioner Secretary Mudgal urged EROs and AEROs to conduct summary revisions of e-rolls promptly according to the schedule, emphasizing the need for timely disposal of claims and objections. She directed BLOs to ensure that all necessary documents are attached to the submitted forms.

Recognizing the significance of engaging youth in the electoral process, Commissioner Secretary Mudgal highlighted the role of Youth Icons as SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) ambassadors in SSR 2023. She urged relevant authorities to intensify campaigns in higher secondary schools and colleges, aiming to actively involve the younger demographic in the Voter Registration process.

Following the meeting, Commissioner Secretary Mudgal conducted on-site visits to various polling stations to assess the ground situation. The purpose was to ensure the effective implementation of SSR-2023 and address any challenges faced at the grassroots level.

In an effort to promote transparency and inclusivity, Commissioner Secretary Mudgal engaged in an interactive session with representatives of political parties. Attentively listening to their grievances regarding SSR-2023, she assured them that concerns would be effectively addressed and resolved. Commissioner Secretary Mudgal stressed the importance of seamless cooperation between Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and BLOs to facilitate a hassle-free process of summary revision of electorates. This collaborative approach aims to streamline the SSR process for optimal efficiency.
