In a significant development, the Doda Police announced the arrest of a notorious drug peddler, identified as Mohd Sohail alias Suhail Ganja, during a routine checking operation in the Chinote area of Bhaderwah. The accused, son of Mohd Aslam and a resident of Sarafa Mohalla Bhaderwah, was found in possession of a substance resembling heroin.
A statement released by the Doda Police revealed that the arrest was made by a police party from Police Station Bhaderwah while on duty. The subsequent personal search of Mohd Sohail led to the discovery of the illicit substance, commonly known as “Chitta.”
In response to the incident, a case has been registered under FIR No. 162/2023, invoking the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Bhaderwah. The investigative process has been set into motion to uncover any potential links, both forward and backward, associated with the accused.
The Doda Police emphasized their commitment to combating the drug menace, highlighting a continued special drive aimed at apprehending drug peddlers. They further urged the general public to actively cooperate with law enforcement by providing any information related to drug peddling or instances of drug addiction in their neighborhoods. Such collaborative efforts, the police asserted, are crucial in ensuring swift and effective action against offenders.
