In a devastating incident in Reasi district, two individuals lost their lives, and 13 others sustained injuries when a vehicle transporting a marriage party skidded off the road, plunging into a gorge on Monday.
The ill-fated Ecco vehicle, bearing registration number JK20C-2474, was en route from Balmatkote to Baddar road when the accident occurred in the Mohre area. Swiftly responding to the emergency, local residents and law enforcement initiated a large-scale rescue operation.
According to officials, two casualties were reported, and the injured were promptly transported to District Hospital Reasi. Subsequently, four critically wounded individuals were shifted to GMC Rajouri for specialized medical attention. SDM Mohre, Sayed Mazhar Ali Shah, confirmed the incident to news agency GNS, as reported.
The victims, identified as attendees of a marriage ceremony, were returning from the celebration when the tragedy unfolded. A police official disclosed that a case has been registered, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.
